Garden Route Trail
Coastal Trail
Garden Route Trail is a relaxed five day coastal walk through diverse habitats and vegetation. Beginning in Wilderness, this five day coastal trail traverses two nature reserves (Wilderness National Park and Goukamma Nature Reserve) to finish on the western head of the Knysna Lagoon. The hike passes through some of South Africa's largest tract of remaining Afromontane rainforest, Milkwood dune forests, wetland, beach, rock pools, and lagoon habitats. With more than 185 African Oystercatchers en route, the coastline offers a perfect sanctuary for these fascinating and threatened species.
Guided Day Walks
For those with limited time available in the Garden Route but still seeking an informed guided nature walk and hiking experience, Garden Route Trail offers a selection of half day and full day guided walk options focusing on providing detailed ecological and enviromental information.
From the selection of walks that we offer, guests have the opportunity to experience the diversity of the Garden Route ranging from remote beaches, towering forests, undulating dunes, fynbos and wetland walks.
