Hitgeheim Country Lodge & Eco-Reserve
Hitgeheim Country Lodge is situated on an eco-reserve in the heart of the malaria-free Sundays River Valley, only minutes from the Addo Elephant National Park. On arrival, you are warmly welcomed into this place of peace and tranquillity. The stylishly appointed chalets offer extra-length beds draped in romantic mosquito nets with crisp white percale linen. Luxurious bathrooms, outdoor showers and private wooden decks with breathtaking views invite you to relax and unwind completely. Awake to the haunting cries of the fish-eagles, residents of the Sundays River below the veranda of your chalet.
Accompany our guide on a safari to the Addo Elephant National Park for the best elephant viewing in the world, arrange an exhilarating elephant back safari, visit one of the near-by 'Big 5' private game reserves or simply go for a walk on the reserve. Afterwards, indulge in a refreshing swim or sun-downers on the veranda as day gives way to the silence of a vast African night. Select your wine from our private collection from the walk-in cellar before you sit down to a gourmet dinner by candle-light. Here you will experience true South African hospitality at its best.
Hitgeheim Country Lodge has established a reputation for outstanding cuisine. Dining with regional cuisine and unique story-telling wines from the walk-in wine cellar ensure that dining is an unforgettable experience. A 6-course menu is presented every evening and served in luxurious splendour. All meals are carefully planned and lovingly prepared by the resident chef to suit the guests' special dietary requirements if any. A scrumptious breakfast on the veranda whilst taking in the stunning views on offer, constitutes a perfect start to the day. Breakfast includes seasonal fresh fruits, stewed dried fruit, yoghurt, muesli and cereals, preserves and fresh fruit juices followed by a traditional South African breakfast or the 'Sunrise Surprise'.
Room features include air-conditioning, heating, electric blankets, bathrobes, bathroom amenities, hairdryer, electronic safe, mini-bar, complimentary sherry, snack basket, coffee & tea facilities, and wireless internet connection. Extra-length twin or king beds available. The 'wet style' bathrooms are finished in natural stone and offer separate toilets and outdoor showers. Romantic turn-downs for honeymooners.
