Zuurberg Mountain Village is a haven of historical delight set high up on the Zuurberg, and has a peaceful & truly unique mountain top retreat, set in 160 hectares of indigenous vegetation, with breath taking views overlooking the Addo Elephant National Park.
This 150-year-old historical hotel, situated at the top of the spectacular Zuurberg Pass & one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth, offers her guests elegance, style and quality of a bygone era.
Equipped to international standards, the rooms in the Zuurberg Manor & Zuurberg Village ensure high levels of comfort, whilst gourmet food, friendly staff & a myriad of outdoor activities all add up to one thing - it’s the best place to stay in the Addo area.
The Lounge, a gracious and high-ceilinged room dominated by an immense stone fireplace with classic indigenous wooden furniture typical of the period. Aperitifs can be enjoyed around a log fire on cool winter evenings.
The Cycad, the hotel's main dining area is enhanced by several features - the counter hand-crafted by the 1820 Settlers, fireplaces & French doors leading to the pool where alfresco dining may be enjoyed on balmy summer nights. Woodifields Bar, named after the engineer of the Zuurberg Pass, is one of the few remaining genuine English pubs in the country, where refreshments can be enjoyed in a relaxing atmosphere.
Hotel Leisure Facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, kiddies playground area, pool table, game drives, hiking trails, bird watching and horse trails.
Meals - Guests can be expected to enjoy a leisurely country breakfast and during the day the Terrace menu is available for light snacks.

Map and Directions to Zuurberg Mountain Village
From Port Elizabeth:
Take the N2 towards Grahamstown. You will pass the entrance to Blue Water Bay. You will see the Coega project on your left hand side. You will see the exit for the R335 (Motherwell / Markman) on your left hand side. Please turn left and continue with this road. You will come to the small town called ADDO. Please continue with the road. You will go across a railway crossing. You will travel a further 10 km till you see our turnoff on your left hand. You will turn left onto a gravel road and travel a further 16 km till you reach the hotel. If you go past the entrance to the Addo Elephant National Park, then please turn back.
From Cradock:
Take the N10 towards Paterson. At Paterson you would turn right onto the R342. You will continue on this road for the next 24km. You will drive past the entrance to the ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK. You will see a sign on your right hand side saying “Zuurberg”. You will turn right here onto a gravel road and travel a further 16 km till you reach the hotel.
From East London and Grahamstown:
Take the N2 towards Port Elizabeth. Follow the road until you see the N10 turn off. Please turn right here. You will drive past SCHOTIA SAFARIS and continue towards Paterson. At Paterson you would turn left onto the R342. You will continue on this road for the next 24km. You will drive past the entrance to the ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK. You will see our entrance on your right hand side. You will turn right onto a gravel road and travel a further 16 km till you reach the hotel.
From Graaff-Reinet:
Take the R75 towards Port Elizabeth, pass Janseville. Take the Kirkwood turnoff. Drive down the main street, at the bottom you reach a 4 way stop. Turn right. Pass Summerdale and Sunlands and continue to reach a T-junction. Turn left and follow the road for appox. 8 km. There will be a sign on the left saying “Zuurberg”. Turn left at the sign and follow the road up the Mountain Pass for 16km to the Hotel.
From Oudtshoorn (via Langkloof):
Take the R62 towards Uniondale on the way to Aventuur. Passing through Joubertina and Kareedow towards Humansdorp. Take the N2 towards Port Elizabeth and follow our directions (above) from Port Elizabeth.
